Guardian Real Estate Services Hires Kerry Hughes to Lead Acquisitions
Portland, Ore.—Guardian Real Estate Services announced Monday the hiring of Kerry Hughes as the company’s Director of Acquisitions. Hughes brings with him over 10 years of experience in the real estate industry and will oversee the evaluation and origination of acquisitions for the firm and its partners. Hughes will also be responsible for capital raising, recapitalizations, development site assessment and management, and oversight and implementation of asset business plans.

“We’re thrilled with the addition of Kerry,” said Thomas Brenneke, president of Guardian Real Estate Services. “He will greatly improve our capacity and ability to compete for Pacific Northwest apartment acquisitions and investments.”

Prior to joining Guardian, Hughes worked at HFF, a national leader in capital markets advisory services, where he was involved in investment sales, equity and debt placement transactions. While at HFF, he helped facilitate the successful closing of over $2.45 billion in transaction volume encompassing over 15,000 multi-housing units, as well as nearly seven million square feet of retail, office, and industrial properties across the US. Earlier in his career Hughes spent several years working with a regional Pacific Northwest property management company focused on multi-housing communities.

“Kerry is a highly respected member of the Portland real estate community and his focus on acquiring existing properties will be a critical component to balancing our substantial focus on development projects,” said Adrian Boly, Vice President, Development and Acquisitions.  “We are well positioned to aggressively pursue regional opportunities and quite confident that Kerry’s diverse skillset and experience will apply successfully in today’s fiercely competitive real estate environment.”

Hughes received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Dakota, and also holds a Real Estate Development Graduate Certificate from Portland State University. He is actively involved with the Urban Land Institute where he is a member of the local Young Leaders Group board.

Locally owned and operated out of Portland, Oregon for over 40 years, Guardian Real Estate Services has evolved into a leading management, development and investment firm in the Pacific Northwest. Guardian has a deep commitment to the communities where it invests and the firm continues to advocate for housing across the entire spectrum. Today, the company’s portfolio includes over 180 communities consisting of 10,000 apartment residences throughout 90 cities in 4 states.
