Debbie Howell: Maintenance Appreciation Week 2025
Happy Maintenance Appreciation Week! We continue to celebrate the hardworking individuals who keep our communities running smoothly behind the scenes.
Today, we highlight Debbie Howell, Maintenance Lead at Rose Schnitzer Tower in Portland, Oregon. Debbie has been with Guardian for a year but has worked at Rose Schnitzer for an incredible 17 years. She’s passionate about supporting her residents and ensuring their building is clean, safe, and comfortable. One of her most rewarding moments came when she and her team worked tirelessly to turn over a unit on a tight deadline—making sure a new resident had a safe home ready to move into.
Guardian's Director of Maintenance Kevin Webb shares that Debbie consistently leads by example:
“Debbie Howell is quick to respond to work orders at Rose Schnitzer Tower. She sets the tone for her team, which directly impacts resident satisfaction. Residents continuously share positive feedback—they truly love their maintenance team.”
Kevin recalls a memorable example of Debbie’s dedication. “We had a move-in scheduled and needed to replace the cabinets in the unit. When the vendor installed the oven, it didn’t fit properly, and we were running out of time before move-in day. Debbie took the lead to resolve the issue herself, staying late to make sure the resident could move in on time. She never hesitates to do what needs to be done.”

Debbie says her passion comes from the people around her. “I love my residents and coworkers and wouldn’t know what to do without them.”
Kevin adds, “Debbie is someone many look up to as a mentor in her field. The success of Rose Schnitzer Tower wouldn’t be possible without her hard work and leadership.”
To all our maintenance team members: thank you. Your professionalism, care, and dedication keep our communities safe, welcoming, and thriving.
Happy Maintenance Appreciation Week—you’ve earned it!
