Guardian Unveils New Headquarters in Northwest Portland

Guardian, a leading operator, developer, and owner of multifamily real estate, has officially relocated its corporate headquarters to 320 NW 23rd Avenue. The move reflects a strategic investment in Guardian’s employees and the company’s future.

The 12,000-square-foot headquarters was designed in partnership with Gensler and tailored to the needs of Guardian’s dynamic, growing team. The new office balances collaboration and focus, with flexible meeting rooms, sound-masked work areas, and private focus spaces. Employees also benefit from an upgraded kitchen, terrace access, and thoughtfully designed amenities to support both productivity and connection.

“Guardian’s success has always come from our people. By investing in an environment that gives our team the tools and support they need to succeed, we are also investing in the future of Guardian and the communities we serve.”

Tom Brenneke, President, Guardian

Guardian purchased the building, formerly home to Williams Sonoma, in January 2024, and spent the past year and a half renovating it to meet the needs of its dynamic and growing team.

The building also features street-level retail, further contributing to the vibrancy of the Northwest District. King Living, an Australian furniture designer and retailer, is slated to open its third U.S. showroom on the ground floor.

“Our move to the Northwest District was intentional,” said Brenneke. “NW 23rd is a neighborhood full of history, character, and community spirit, and it provides our employees with an environment that enhances their daily experience.”

“This headquarters is an investment in our people and our future,” said Josh Lloyd, Chief Operating Officer at Guardian. “The space was designed to grow with us, offering flexibility, comfort, and inspiration as we continue to evolve as a company.”

Guardian has been headquartered in Portland for more than 20 years and continues to provide innovative housing solutions across market-rate, affordable, and senior living communities throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
