Matt Voelsch: Maintenance Appreciation Week 2025
We’re continuing to celebrate the incredible individuals who keep our communities running smoothly during Maintenance Appreciation Week.
Today’s spotlight is on Matt Voelsch at Grand Fir in Salem, Oregon. Though Matt has only been with Guardian for a short time, he’s already made a lasting impact through his strong work ethic and thoughtful approach to helping residents.
Portfolio Manager Christine Rustigan shares, “Matt is friendly, reliable, and treats residents with genuine care. He takes a preventative approach to maintenance, and it truly shows.”
That commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed—Matt and his team regularly earn high scores on resident surveys, with feedback praising their responsiveness and the community’s cleanliness. One resident shared:
“Great management, great maintenance, clean grounds! Management is great with the kids in our community!”
Matt says one of his proudest moments so far was receiving his first 100% resident satisfaction score.
Christine recalls a recent event that highlighted Matt’s quick thinking. When a smoke alarm went off, Matt immediately responded and was able to contain a small fire before it spread—protecting the resident’s home, belongings, and peace of mind.
Matt takes great pride in spotting and addressing potential hazards before they become issues. He and his team often research repairs and solutions in advance to ensure every job is done safely and effectively.
As Christine shares, “I’m proud to have such skilled, professional team members. Residents constantly comment on how friendly and thorough this team is. They work hard every day and make all of us shine.”

To all our maintenance team members: thank you. Your professionalism, care, and dedication keep our communities safe, welcoming, and thriving.
Happy Maintenance Appreciation Week—you’ve earned it!
