Experience

Guardian welcomed Melissa as our Learning and Development Manager in April 2025. With more than 20 years of experience in the multifamily industry, Melissa held on-site management, training and development, and performance management roles. Before joining Guardian, Melissa was a Regional Manager with a national multifamily company, responsible for meeting performance goals, training and mentoring her team, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. Previously, she worked as a Performance Manager at a regional multifamily company, developing processes and training programs to address performance gaps and shifts in business demands.

Specialities

With a proven track record of reducing employee turnover and increasing engagement, Melissa has authored and deployed online policy and procedure manuals, developed intensive onboarding programs, and facilitated online and in-person training courses. Her diverse background in property management, policy development, and training makes her a valuable asset on the Guardian team. Melissa is a licensed Property Manager in Oregon and is certified in training through the Association for Talent Development (ATD). She is also an active volunteer at Rose Haven, a day shelter and community center in Portland, Oregon.

My random assortment of hobbies and passions. During the spring and summer, I tend to my cut flower garden and enjoy hiking with the dogs. In the fall and winter, I shift to knitting, soap making, and baking elaborate desserts.
